چکیده

Abstract We present the research and development work of first version a 6×6 array silicon pad detectors, carried out in India, for proposed forward calorimeter (FOCAL) as part ALICE collaboration upgrade program at CERN. The primary motivation is to develop large area realizing challenging requirements high-energy physics experiments such low leakage current, high breakdown voltage evaluate its performance an active layer prototype tungsten (Si-W) electromagnetic (EM) calorimeter. Towards these goals, 36-pad sensor with individual size ∼1 cm 2 designed on 4-inch resistivity N-type wafer fabricated Bharat Electronics Limited, Bangalore. sensors have been used assemble Si-W calorimeters were successfully tested particle beams. design characterization using radioactive sources laboratory beams are reported this paper.

An Electromagnetic Calorimeter for the Silicon Detector (SiD) Concept

To complement LHC capabilities, ILC detectors must reconstruct hadronic final states, including reasonable separability ofW jets from Z jets. The LDC and SiD full detector concept designs include silicon-tungsten (Si-W) electromagnetic calorimeters (ECal) for particle flow reconstruction of jets at the ILC. With high density and segmentation, they are critical to the physics goal jet energy res...

An Intrinsic Area{array Pad Router for Ics

Arranging I/Os in a matrix array over the core circuitry of an IC generally provides 5{10 times more I/Os than the traditional method of restricting pads to the periphery. This approach also minimizes overall die size. In this paper we describe the development of a new area{array pad router which di ers from other approaches in that no additional metal layer is added (unless needed) and no redi...

A Silicon/tungsten Electromagnetic Calorimeter with Integrated Electronics

We discuss progress and issues relevant to the design of a highly segmented silicontungsten electromagnetic calorimeter. Our design features a complete readout chip which is integrated onto each detector wafer, thus reducing the effective channel count by a factor of about 1000. We apply this design to the SD detector of the American LC Physics Group, but some elements could be applicable elsew...

The CLAS Electromagnetic Calorimeter at Large Angles

The study of the response of the two modules of the large-angle electromagnetic shower calorimeter (LAC) of the CLAS detector to charged and neutral particles is reported. The results agree very well with the Monte Carlo simulation. The procedures adopted for the energy and timing calibration are also discussed, proving that the module geometry allows for simple self-calibrating energy and timi...
